How long have you been part of the BRAVEday team, and what did you do before?
I have been part of the team at BRAVEday right from the start in 2000; I guess you could say I was the original founder…how time flies when you are having fun! Prior to joining the insurance industry I was a financial markets trader through the 90's with HSBC which was really stressful…hence the change.
What do you do to fill in your work day?
It's well known amongst the BRAVEday team that I do all the talking, and take all the credit. Essentially I give the advice for the risk insurance side of our business, so my time is spent meeting with clients and ensuring they have the best possible cover to meet their needs.
What about family?
I am married to Tania and have a daughter Ashlee who is now in her twenties … sheesh!! And of course Tania and I have our fur children Marlee the dog and Max the cat.
What is the most challenging thing you have ever done?
As far as challenges go, I try to push the boundaries where I can and get out of my comfort zone when I can. The Outward Bound I did several years ago did just that. I have also done the canyon swing jump in Queenstown which is a 109 meter free fall–and for someone that hates heights it is something I will never forget...or do again!
Any special achievements/awards you want to brag about?
I have been to a party at the Playboy Mansion with the red carpet, paparazzi and playmates (oh yes, and my wife) which was definitely a highlight for me. Winning the PAA NZ Insurance Adviser of the Year and Auckland Business Excellence awards were two career achievements because they were a testament to all the hard work we put into taking care of our clients.
What do you do for fun?
A spot of fishing with mates always goes down well. We have also been lucky enough to have travelled to many far and exotic destinations over the last 10 or 15 years, so that has definitely been a lot of fun.
If you could have a super power what would it be?
I would love to have the ability to teleport to anywhere in the world. Long distance travelling sitting in aeroplanes and airports is such a waste of time, so having the ability to appear anywhere with the click of my fingers would be pretty cool.
What is your life "Theme Song" right now?
Anything by Six60 would do. They are great to see live and all their songs are good to sing along to.
Leave us some inspiration…
You become what you focus on, and like the people you spend time with.
