This month starts with World Asthma day (6th) and concludes with World Smoke Free day (31st), so what better time for us to focus on Respiratory Health.
Over the month you can expect some informative tips, you will hear some real life stories of people's experiences, and prepare to be surprised by some amazing facts …. here's a few to get you started:
- Your left lung is smaller than your right.
- If your lungs were open flat, they would cover the size of a tennis court!
- Some sneezes can reach speeds of over 150kms per hour.
- Lungs are the only human organ that floats on water.
- On average, adults breathe 15 times a minute - new born babies however breathe about 40 times a minute.
- If you regularly get up to pee in the middle of the night, it's probably due to breathing with your mouth open! Breathing through the mouth causes your bladder to shrink.
