Who's looking after your insurance?

You're an intelligent person right? You know what you're good at and, if you're like me, you know that there are all sorts of things that you just don't know enough about….so you consult a professional for their advice and guidance.

Seeking advice on insurance, from an expert, is no different than seeking expert accounting or legal advice.

Sure you can buy online - but do you know what you are buying?

No doubt it will be advertised as cheaper.  Getting a free month's premium or a discount on the first year of premiums sounds appealing but it's not going to be that useful at claim time if you've got the wrong product, or the product that you've bought has lots of limitations.

The old adage 'you get what you pay for' applies to insurance, along with most other things.  Not all insurance is created equal - an insurance adviser will be able to explain the differences and help you choose what's best for you, and your budget.

Having the right insurance makes a massive difference when things go wrong - it's something I see a lot when I am helping our clients with claims.  We can't turn back the clock to avoid the health issue or event that caused the claim, but we can help make the claims process easy and take care of all the details (and any problems).  We're here to help at claim time….it's what we do.

So, when you are thinking about choosing who your insurance adviser will be, consider the following:

  • Seek a recommendation, 95% of our clients are referred to us by existing clients or other professional advisers (lawyers, accountants, investment advisers etc).

  • Do you like the person you are dealing with?  Do you trust them?  Do they explain things in simple terms? Insurance isn't rocket science, but it should be explained carefully so that you know what you are getting, and how it's going to work for you when things go wrong.

  • Is the person you choose available to answer your questions along the way?  Do they return your calls promptly and respond to email?  (replying two weeks later isn't prompt in my book).  Will they sort out any issues and the paperwork?  Most importantly are they on call when you need to claim?

At BRAVEday we stick to what we do (we think, better than most) - and that's insurance.
