V8 Supercars Returning to Auckland

In between painting the house and attending the Bissell Women's Triathlon this weekend I will be watching the V8's, as I do every race.

The season this year has had the biggest changes since the early 90's when Nissan, Ford and BMW were part of the series.  The new 'car of the future' has really brought the teams together, similar to the way the Pirelli tyre had done in the F1 last year.

So to Puke' this weekend - with the new additions to the track and a massive crowd on hand it should be fantastic.

My earliest memories of the V8's were when I was back home in Wellington, for the Nissan Mobil 500 street race.  A family member who was in the Mobil business got me pit tickets and drivers meeting tickets, all pretty awesome for a 10 year old! Meeting all my heroes… Peter Brock, Johnson, Longhurst, Skaife and the lot.

I can remember to this day the first time sitting with my Dad on the main straight when Brock's Commodore went past down Cable Street flame spitting V8 in the wet, so loud that it shakes your body - from then on I knew it was for me.

Good luck to all the drivers this weekend,
and a hot tip: Keep an eye on Scott McLaughlin, he is very quick! GO KIWIS!
