Truly Living Bodly

Written by Tania Young | Jul 4, 2013 12:00:00 PM

We came across an article in Fitness Life recently that really stood out. The story is of Karin Horen who was diagnosed with breast cancer at age 26, which resulted in Karin having a mastectomy and reconstruction. That was 14 years ago and unfortunately in January this year, the cancer returned.

I researched Karin's journey a little more, and her story is a truly inspirational one.  Karin's purely positive attitude despite her circumstances is evident in her latest project - to set up a house on the North Shore where breast cancer patients can recuperate post-surgery in a relaxed environment.

Karin is also the creator of Paddle for Hope, an annual festival of Stand Up Paddling, which promotes the role of exercise in health, wellbeing and rehabilitation.  It also recognises that family and peer support is integral in fight the against breast cancer.

Karin is tireless in her fundraising efforts and support for breast cancer awareness.  There are so many worthy causes that need help from the community - join BRAVEday in supporting this extremely brave lady in her quest to make a positive change in women's lives.  Karin truly is a great example of Living Boldly, and an inspiration to us all.
