Success

Written by Tania Young | Jun 1, 2012 3:38:00 AM

When we admire someone and label them a 'success', what exactly do we mean? Success is a concept that we all understand, but, in reality it means something different to each of us. The choice is ours, to compare ourselves to those around us, or learn from them. We choose the latter.

Jennifer Lopez - "Whatever you want to do, do it"

All it took for J.Lo was $52 million in earnings over the past 12 months, a clothing line, infinite fame, fragrances and 6.6 million Twitter followers to become Forbes #1 most successful celeb last week.

Margaret Thatcher - "What is success? I think it is a mixture of having a flair for the thing that you are doing; knowing that it is not enough, that you have got to have hard work and a certain sense of purpose."

The Women's Conference held recently in NZ's capital, showcased some inspiration from closer to home.

Dame Susan Devoy - Squash Champion

"Win or lose, your mum and dad will still love you, your friends will still be your friends and your enemies still your enemies, and the sun will still rise tomorrow."

Jill Marshall - best selling international author

"The objective is success for you, in the way that means the most to you."

Define your own success, and celebrate it.
