Recharge!

I fully understand the importance of taking time out to recharge the batteries.

One week you are highly productive, powering through every task put in front of you - the next, you have "hit the wall" and find focusing on even the smallest job a challenge.  Rest and relaxation is an integral part of a healthy lifestyle.  It rejuvenates your body and mind, and regulates your mood.  It may be hard to believe that things will not fall apart without you around, but the truth is; if you aren't performing at your best, you may as well not be there.

Just the planning of your holiday, having a specific date to look forward to, can make a huge difference to your attitude.  It sets you up for the ensuing weeks of routine before you go, and gives you a point to work towards.

I recently spent a week in Rarotonga & Aitutaki - where there is not much to do but relax!  Internet access is limited, Wi-Fi and data costs a fortune, so the iPhone was turned off.  It is quite surprising how little I missed it, and how easily I got into the groove of just relaxing.

I have returned with wonderful memories of fun, sun and sand - perfect to get me through the winter months ahead.  I took lots of photos, and recommend making up a small album to pop on your desk to browse through when the rain is pouring outside!

So, if you don't have a holiday coming up (remember, it doesn't need to be overseas, or cost a fortune), start planning one now.  The first thing I did when I got back from Raro was start thinking about the next trip - Hawaii here we come!
