The most important thing to remember (and probably the least known) is that you need to inform your travel insurer if your medical circumstances change between the date you take the policy out, and when you travel - if you don't, you may not be covered.
So if you are heading off on an adventure anytime soon, here are some extra tips to make your holiday even better (and safer):
- Leave a copy of your itinerary, passport and tickets with a family member or friend - just in case!
- Double check your passport - make sure it will not expire for at least 6 months after your expected date of return.
- Check Safe Travel for information on any countries you might be visiting.
- Pack toiletries into ziplock bags to avoid any exploding containers in your luggage.
- When packing, take half as many clothes as you think you will need and twice as much money.
- Buy a local SIM card for your mobile phone - it's much cheaper than global roaming.
