Major Surgery or a Healthy Lifestyle - Which Would You Choose?

We're The 3rd Fattest Nation On Earth - But it doesn't have to be that way! We've all heard the catch phrase "obesity epidemic" in recent times, but I couldn't quite believe it when I heard last week that NZ is heading towards being the fattest nation on earth.

I googled it - as you do - and according to a couple of sites, we're currently sitting in third place, trailing only Mexico and the States.

What horrified me even more was then hearing a radio interview with Christchurch surgeon Steven Kelly, during which he said that the Government needs to do more to actively fund bariatric surgery as an option for weight loss as "diet and exercise don't work". As a recently converted 'health-enthusiast',  I can confirm that diet and exercise actually do work - it's just not as easy to do as sitting on the couch eating chips.
