Its been a long time coming but I am off for surgery in the morning to get a septoplasty (nose surgery). The reason for my discomfort started with a smashed nose when I was child, causing half of my snout to not work properly (and apparently some snoring, but I don't believe that).
Luckily for me, my medical insurance is footing the bill, (nearly $7,000 of it) from consultations with my with specialist, to CT and MRI scans. Not only am I covered for private medical care with top surgeons (as I am a scaredy cat I want it done properly) but I was able to choose when this surgery was to take place at a time convenient to both myself and the team, instead of pulling my ticket and waiting in queue publicly.
I get asked a lot "is medical cover worth the money?". To that I say, "the total premiums I have paid are not even half of what this one surgery is alone".
