Hearth Health

This month we focus our attention on something everyone has, a heart.

Did you know:

  • Six THOUSAND New Zealanders die every year from heart related illness, which accounts for 30% of deaths annually.
  • Every 90 minutes, a Kiwi dies from coronary heart disease.
  • Nearly two-thirds of deaths from heart attacks in women occur among those who have had no history of chest pain.

The frustrating part about these really high statistics is that most could be avoided with some subtle changes to our lifestyles early on, but the typical Kiwi "she'll be right" attitude means that people think it will never happen to them.

This month will be full of tips and tricks to maintaining a healthier heart, we will share some personal stories, and give you some indicators to look out for.
