Don't do it!

The Friday before Christmas used to be one of the most hazardous on the road, as Christmas party goers head home after a night on the booze, convinced they are fine to drive.

These days, the lower drink driver limits ensure that this is no longer such an issue, but it doesn't make those parties any less dangerous… here are some "don'ts" to get you through the already in full swing Silly Season.

Don't use the office party as an opportunity to try and climb the corporate ladder.  Just because the CEO is in the room, doesn't mean he wants to hear you bending his ear for 45 minutes - chances are, he's there to try and relax a little too.

Don't make sexual advances on your workmates, or their partners!  The bubbles may have been flowing for a couple of hours, but no one wants to see you groping at the people you spend the majority of your day with.  It's just awkward.

Don't overdress.  Or underdress.  If there is no dress code, remember that jeans and jandals don't go together, strapless dresses are for the beach, and you don't need to wear a tux to dinner.

Don't fall victim to social media.  Remember that anything you do is likely to be reported on some level on some form of social media.  Bearing this in mind, is running through the main street of town with your undies on your head really something you want your grand kids (or potential new employer) to see?

Don't talk about religion or politics.  This can be said for every party ever attended - this is always going to end in tears.  Or a punch up.  Or worse.

If you keep these few things in mind, you may just survive this silly season unscathed.
