DIY QR Codes

It's a pretty cool thing to be able to scan a seemingly meaningless set of squares, and be transported to a website giving you a tonne of information. Smartphones ensure that you can have information at your fingertips 24/7, and evolving technology means that we can do it quickly, and with little or no effort.  QR Codes are not new technology, but their uses are increasing all the time.

One of our clients emailed us through a QR code for our website (thanks!) the other day and I used the "QRReader" app on my iPhone to read it (don't worry, android has its own version, or you can download from the internet).  Best of all, it is our favourite price . . . FREE!

Having not spent much time or effort on QR codes before, I discovered I could make up my own codes, and was pretty amazed to see what you could use them for.  QR Codes are a great way to get your brand "out there".

It's human nature for your clients to wonder "what is this all about?" and then BINGO; you have another visitor to your website, Facebook or any other social media page.  You aren't just limited to internet sites either - QR codes can point you to vCards, emails, SMS messages, maps or phone numbers, and so much more.  They are also widely used in one-off promotional material and can be a quick way to enter a draw or add a "like" to Facebook - the possibilities are endless.

So what are you waiting for?
