Breathtaking

Tania and I walked the Hollyford Track a few years ago and what a wonderful experience it was … truly world class. Three days of trekking in the New Zealand wilderness, hearing stories of New Zealand pioneers and the struggles they went through when first arriving on these shores.

I knew where that picture was taken as soon as I saw it … The Sand Dunes on the Hollyford Track. It is like that picture is engrained in my memory.

I also told a few tales along the way, as everyone did - of who they were and where they came from. People from far and wide, from all parts of the globe came together for these wonderful three days.

The first day was long and tiring; yes I was buggered by the end of it. After a long, hot shower and a fantastic feed to refuel it was quite amazing how quickly I recovered - ready for tomorrows adventure.

Days two and three were so different from the first, yet just as spectacular … this is definitely NZ at its best.

The final day was a walk along the sand dunes pictured above; I think about 10km there and back. Just long enough to feel that tightening in my weary calf muscles before we jumped into our four seater (very small) aircraft for our flight along the coast and into Milford Sound … man, what an experience!!!

I hope this article inspires you to get off your chuff and out walking, to see this beautiful country we live in … I dare you. Live Boldly & have a Brave day.
