Pantry Basics:
One of the easiest things to do when you are beginning the journey of healthy eating is to look at your pantry and fridge.
When it comes to your pantry, fridge and freezer the best advice I can give is to declutter. It is easy to open up your pantry or fridge and be overwhelmed for choice, this can lead to turning to convenience foods instead as it all seems too hard.
If you plan your meals weekly and fill your pantry with the ingredients you need to make these foods it takes the chore out of hunting and gathering in your own pantry for inspiration.
Planning is the key: Failing to plan is planning to fail.
Plan the meats you would like to eat for the week and then plan your meals around which meat you are going to buy.

Making new Habits
If you are planning on starting a whole new set of eating habits there a few things you need to do to get started.
De-clutter your pantry, freezer and Fridge:
- Go through your fridge, freezer and pantry and get rid of all the expired jars, bottles and packets of food.
- Remove all of the half eaten jars, bottles and packets of food that you have not eaten within the last 3-6 months.
- Collect all the junk/ convenience foods in your pantry and donate to your local food bank or supermarket that has a food bank box
Start a fruit bowl
Choose a bowl you have at home that you would like to be your fruit bowl. Display this bowl on the bench or somewhere accessible and arrange your seasonal fruit for people to help themselves in between meals.
Having a fruit bowl not only looks attractive, but displaying it on a bench or table means that you are more likely to eat a piece of fruit because it is visible and not hunt around in your pantry for something a little 'less' healthy.
Tip
Buy enough fruit to last you the week, but only display about half in the fruit bowl, put the rest in the fridge as this will keep it from going mouldy and you can just top up the fruit bowl as needed.
